I go within to the garden of my soul and know my oneness with God.
A favorite hymn reminds me of my oneness with God: I know that as I come to the garden alone, God walks with me and talks with me.
In this garden within my soul, there is a wellspring of life and healing. I listen to the rippling of the “brook” that flows forth from this source. I feel the perfect peace of this sacred place.
I feel God’s love enfolding me, healing me. This healing power flows through my body and my soul. My life has meaning and purpose. I know that God is my guide and my protector. My life has beauty and grace. As I am blessed, so am I a blessing.
I stay in the garden of my soul for a while—until it’s time to return to this day. Appreciation wells up from within as I say, “Thank You, God, for the joy I’ve found.”
“A river flows out of Eden to water the garden.”—Genesis 2:10
As a child, I may have been told often to be mindful of my behavior and my words. This kind of instruction might have caused me to feel unsure or restricted.
There is another kind of mindfulness, however, that is not limiting, for it is through prayer that I open my mind to a greater awareness of God.
My prayer time does not have to be formal or done in a specific way. In fact, whenever I am aware of God’s presence, I make a prayer of that moment. Whenever I dedicate my thoughts to Spirit, even the most mundane of daily activities becomes an act of communion with God. Walking, doing household chores, or simply taking notice of my breathing in a quiet moment, I am aware of God. Then whatever I do becomes a prayer.
“Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the
name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father
“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”
—Proverbs 16:24
My Spirit-centered attitude shows in the positive way I feel, both emotionally and physically. Communicating with an attitude enriched by divine love, I am kind, comforting, and cheerful. Positive energy reverberates within me and flows out from me as happiness and peace.
I don’t dwell on why things may not be going according to my plan. I look for the common ground that I share with all other children of God. Working together, we dissolve any misunderstanding and bring about the perfect plan.
My prayers are affirmations of health and wholeness of mind and body. I am happy, whole, peaceful, and secure.
